I am working with Angela to find an historical archive for the family papers and pictures of my first step-mother’s ancestors who escaping the pogroms of pre-WW I Russia. 

 

None of them achieved fame or notoriety. None of them built a business or ran for office. What they did do is record moments of their lives in story and picture.

V I P Day

Vast, Intensive, Private

Let's get it done.

Gather the photos, documents, and materials you want to preserve and save. Together we'll assess, triage, organize, and preserve them for generations to come.

This VIP experience can be customized to handle whatever you want! I suggest the following:

 

Two days in your (or your parents') home, 6 hours each day.

Before we get together:

We will jump on a call together so that you can brief me about your collection and tell me a little about the family & friends that are represented in it.  We'll talk about what is most important to you in your life, and prioritize the times, people, or places that you want to save in most detail.

  • I will send you a starter kit of archival supplies that will include:

  1. Four archival quality  1/2-size storage boxes, acid-free and lignin-free (below).

  2. 100 archival quality folders

I will bring supplies for simple repairs to paper objects, archival box labels, and nitrile gloves for both of us to wear while we are handling your family documents.

Your prep:

Choose or clear a space for us to work.

Gather all the materials that you want to include in our project.

During our time we will:

-Assess your collection and

-Determine our categories of documentation.

-Start a triage system to preserve your most fragile or most meaningful documents first, and decide what to photograph as a form of preservation, and we'll decide if anything needs to be tossed.

-Organize and file documents.

-Make a detailed finding aid, or catalogue, so that you can find something you've saved, or save something you find.

We can narrow down dates, dip into your family history, consult outside resources, and work to get them identified.

 

Then you can go even deeper into understanding your roots, make a plan to share the photos with other family, and add them to your files and your family knowledge.

Travel packages: I can travel!  A flat rate of $350 usually covers all transportation and lodging.

We will make a collection & storage plan  for going forward, so that as new materials are generated or donated, you'll know where and how to add them to your collection.

Followup: 30 days of email access for questions about individual documents, storing the collection, or recommendations for other questions that may arise.

Reschedule/Cancellation Policy:

You're allowed one VIP reschedule with 14-day advance notice. Any travel expenses incurred by rescheduling are the responsibility of the client.

 

We must complete the work within 3 months of booking at current prices. If you need to wait longer than that, there may be additional fees.
